IDEX is delighted to announce that Desmond D’Sa, co-founder of our South African partner SDCEA, has been awarded the prestigious Goldman Environmental Prize (also called the ‘Green Nobel’) for 2014. He is a recipient of this award for his work in rallying south Durban’s diverse and disenfranchised communities and successfully shutting down a toxic waste dump that was exposing nearby residents to dangerous chemicals and robbing them of their constitutionally protected right to a safe and clean environment.
